In this video it is the 3rd period of a Thanksgiving tournament championship game with no score. The best player on the Maroon team hits an opposing player in a vulnerable and defenseless position. The officiating crew correctly issues a major plus games misconduct for head contact.

The Linesperson Cannot Stop Throwing the Puck: No Holiday Gifts Please!

We see two separate occasions where the same linesperson catches the puck and throws it back into play. Once down into the corner, seemingly harmless, but wrong. The other occasion is directly to a player that begins a counter attack and unties a game with 1:30 remaining in the 3rd. Not good.

This video will walk through the steps to submit a report to the proper authorities when a player uses hateful or discriminatory language and it is UNHEARD by the officials, but reported to the officials by another player, coach, or off-ice official. This applies to USA Hockey sanctioned games in Illinois.

Hit at the Final Buzzer: Not Taking the Low Road

When a dangerous act occurs late in a game it is important to penalize the act appropriately. In this incident we have a charge at the final buzzer and assessing anything other than a major plus game misconduct would mean this dangerous action would go completely unchecked.

Example: Major Plus Game Misconduct - Checking From Behind

This is an example of an official assessing a major plus game misconduct for checking from behind. The black team player is focused on gaining possession of the puck, the white team player allows the black team player to pass and takes up a position to make contact with this player. The white player commits to contact and targets the dark team player's numbers.

Improperly Assessed Major Plus Game Misconduct for Slashing

This was reviewed due to the new AHAI rule for 2024-25 concerning major penalties for slashing which now come with a 3-game suspension in an effort to eliminate stick swinging incidents. This is not a major plus game misconduct for slashing situation based on the committee's review of the incident.
